Artists Religion and Free Speech

Artists, Religion and Free Speech

Right now artists, religion and free speech are under attack here in the United States. The supreme court is deciding this issue right now. Hopefully, the Supreme court will once again designate art as part of free speech, and therefore covered by our first amendment.

Why Should We Care?

We should care because Great art requires the freedom to create the art you want.
The artist cannot be forced to paint what the government wants, what a patron wants, or even what the fans want. If there is pressure and control upon the artist, we all lose. When artists are told what type of paintings to paint, what to kind of films to produce, what kind of musical songs to write, we have lost the true essence of what art was meant to do for society. Yes! Yes! Yes! Our top priority should be to revive the Market Place of Ideas. Nothing else matters. The answer to all our other social and cultural issues will only be worked out in a society with free and open debate. If any one point of view is allowed to highjack the dialogue and turn it into a monologue, then we are setting the stage for a totalitarian state.

Amen, Frank. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment!

Art flourishes when the censorship police get out of the way.

and compelled creative content is the beginning of the end….
