Do Artists Have a Supernatural Calling

Do Artists Have a Supernatural Calling?

What is a supernatural calling, and how do we know if artists have it?
We believe artists are an important part of the body of Christ. For far too long, many churches have treated artists as second-class citizens, and it is not loving, or kind, or even more to the point it is not godly or biblical to treat musicians and artists as second-class citizens in the church or in the kingdom of God.

But do artists have a supernatural calling?

Join us as we take a look at what this means, and what the proper, biblical, perspective is for creatives and artists today.

What a perfectly balanced teaching Joel. Yes, I’ve seen both sides of the coin and both extremes are destructive. Thank you so much. Man, I’m so glad to have your teaching in my life. It’s been so healing.

Great video, Joel. I reposted on my blog page: http://www.fireandmud.org
I find your content of this video to be true amongst my university students. I don’t teach anymore but they seemed to want and desire something important to do with their art when maybe their families or friends saw their university pursuits as frivolous. This pushed some to follow hyper-charismatic or new apostolic theological threads that eventually brought pain because it was not grounded in scripture.

      Rachel,

What an encouragement! So thankful you posted it on your blog.

Yes, the attraction to the hyper-charismatic is a problem we keep seeing for so many artists…here in the U.S., but it seems almost worse overseas. The new apostolic trend is as dangerous as it is attractive to some creatives looking for affirmation. As you state, it is not grounded in Scripture.

Looked at your site….great content. We need more solid voices in the area of dance and choreography! My wife and I went to a Twyla Tharp event quite a few years ago…great dance is a great gift!
