Four Reasons Your Church Does Not Understand Art or Creativity

Four Reasons Your Church Does Not Understand Art or Creativity

Do you ever wonder why your church doesn’t understand art, or appreciate you calling as a creative? Maybe they want to be encouraging, but they just can’t understand why a Christian should be in film, tv, manga, fine art, popular music or even video games? Well, I have spoken to pastors and church leaders on this issue, and I have helped them see the problematic ideas they have been taught, and helped them see the biblical corrective that helps them understand the role of artists and the arts in God’s economy. I want to share with you those 4 main theological reasons pastors and ministry leaders may find it hard to understand the arts and creativity.

This video alone explains the core reason why society is in the state that it’s in today. I asked my pastor this question once and he explained that most Christians live in a duality of Sunday church vs everyday life which you covered. A lot of it also has to do with platforms and focusing on what they’re building vs what is needed.

Our society is in the state that it’s in because pastors surrendered the arts to the evil one. They saw the giants in the land and recoiled like grasshoppers. God created the universe using words. Yet they deny the power of words and creation in the arts.

Despite this, God is still merciful. He’s raised up people like you to shed the light and encourage the rest of us to move into those places without fear. And He is with us.
